One of the newest features found on the Nintendo Wii is being able to use the controllers as musical instruments. There are certain games where such an application is possible. Obviously the game and controls can never take the place of real instruments but its a great game for those who want to quickly start making some music.
Hi, I’m Abraham Karadi, and I’m one of Nintendo Japans beta-testers. I just plan on sharing my thoughts as a low-level tester; you know my experiences and whatnot, maybe it will help stimulate discussion of what the fans really want from us or something! Awesome, right? I hope this blog post, and my blog in general, gives a good sense of where the industry is heading, and what the life of a beta tester is like at Nintendo Japan!
If you are wondering how I got the job it actually isn’t much of a story. I was in Japan on my travels and I needed some money. I applied for some third party contracting company to find me a place to work. They set me up with Nintendo of all places. It was a pretty secretive deal. So secretive in fact you can probably already tell that Abraham Karadi is not my real name. Nintendo wont appreciate this blog so much but what can I do, I wanted to spread the word. Nintendo makes great products and the fans are always hungry for sneak peeks, tidbits, teasers, and whatever information on new games they can get their hands on.
Now lets get down to it. So the Wii can do music, imitate many a musical instrument through the use of the wave motion sensing technology. Using the controllers you mimic the hand gestures of whatever musical instrument you want to play. For example if you are playing the drums you hold the controls like drum sticks, if you are playing the guitar you strum control like your holding a guitar and pick. The possibilities are limitless. The game features hundreds of instruments and control variations for each individual instrument. You are also able to create music and record your own music video.
This feature is incredibly amazing this game could actually be a good competitor up against other music games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Its a great project and I was glad to have been able to work on it.
