When I received the Novel “Iron Horse Rider” from the Author Adelle “Legs” Laudan I have to admit I was expecting a book about a Biker fighting and causing trouble. You know your Typical Biker Bad Boy Story. What I received was something I was not expecting at all.

The Novel Tells the story of a hardcore biker named Shane, Shane had always kept women at arms length and showed them no emotion, That was until he met Kelly. Try as he might this biker who had always kept to himself could not fight off his feelings for her and soon found himself Married to the Women of his dreams.

After 10 years of Marriage Kelly is taken from Shane in a Tragic accident while they are Ridding. Shane finds everything around him reminds him of Kelly, His home, his shop, even his Clubhouse. His Brother’s try to Support and comfort him, but the looks of sorrow in their eyes for him is more then Shane can bare. He soon realizes staying in the world He has Known and loved is not an option. Soon Shane is on his Iron Horse with the wind in his face and no destination! As Shane rides He finds the pain he feels for his loss begin to lessen!

With advice from a Mysterious Biker he keeps running into, Shane finds himself at a Micmac Indian Camp. Shane is welcomed into the Camp by the Tribes Chief and soon finds himself becoming Friends with the Chief’s Daughter Tia who has recently lost her Husband! While the two Share their pain they soon begin to feel something for each other. Is it possible for either of them to feel love again while still suffering from such a great loss? A member of Tia’s Tribe is taking no chances and tells Shane to stay away from Tia. He soon finds out you never tell a Biker like Shane what to do!

I found the writing in this novel while in no way simplistic was easy to read. I also found the story easy to follow ! Adelle “Legs” Laudan describes and expresses the feelings of Biker Brotherhood perfectly. When She explains Shane’s feelings while Riding you can see in your mind where he is and you can almost feel the wind in your Face!

In life we all have our worlds we live in, When something Terrible happens sometimes We cling to what We know. Shane does what He as a true Biker must after such a terrible loss, He goes out and finds not only a new life but a new World to live in for a while.

I have to say I enjoyed the story. It was not what I was expecting or would usually read but I found I could not put the book down. I think some Men who Ride will enjoy this book, While many I feel will find it a little too much of a Romance novel! I do believe almost all Women who has ever ridden a Motorcycle or dated a Man who rode one will love this Novel.

The Amazon Kindle e-book reader always seems to be in the news. It certainly attracts a lot of publicity and has had celebrity endorsements, of one type or another, from Oprah Winfrey, Hilary Clinton and Stephen King (amongst others). The constant media attention has turned the Kindle into an almost iconic gadget, like the iPod for example, and it has become part of the landscape of high tech gadgets today.

No wonder that it’s easy to overlook the fact that the Kindle is still a newcomer and has had a relatively short lifespan to date. November 2007 saw the release of the original Kindle. The Kindle 2.0, suitably upgraded of course, was launched in February of 2009 and the latest model, the large display Kindle DX, went on sale in June of 2009.

In a way, it’s a compliment to Amazon that every new e-book reader that’s unveiled is hailed as the Kindle Killer. The same applies to other devices such as the Apple iPad for example. Although very different to the Kindle, there are still plenty of industry watchers who suggest that the launch of the iPad will signal the Kindle’s demise. In fact, were the iPad or any other device to put paid to the Kindle, it would be less of a case of killing it and more like strangling it at birth.

It’s easy to forget that the Kindle was only launched relatively recently and that Amazon was a late entrant to the e-book reader market place. The first dedicated e-book reader launched over a decade ago in 1999. Even the Sony PRS hit the streets in 2006, quite some time before the original Kindle.

In what is, in fact, a very short period of time, the Amazon Kindle has become practically a by-word for e-book readers. It’s a testament to the commercial acumen and customer service of Amazon. They have taken the Kindle way past the point of “hot gadget” and provided their customers with a “Kindle experience”.

There’s no doubting the fact that the hardware is, in itself, exceptionally well designed and user friendly. One handed operation on a crowded bus, train or plane is simple and easy. The e-ink technology display works well in a variety of different ambient lighting conditions. All of that being said, it’s the simplicity of buying books, downloading them in less than sixty seconds, the added convenience of not needing to lug heavy paper books around, the fact that you can purchase new books anytime you want - without having to leave your house, and the huge library of Kindle books which you can choose from which has made the Kindle such a landmark device.

Wireless free connectivity - with no monthly fee - and the trust and branding that Amazon enjoys have also contributed to the success of the Kindle. It represents a significant investment of time and effort by Amazon. Having entered the market late, Amazon is not about to allow its new best selling product to be killed off. Many businesses have implemented energy efficiency measures in their facilities over the past several years to help decrease operating expenses and aid the local and global environment. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct 2005) provides generous, immediate tax deductions to businesses for making energy efficiency improvements to their buildings. The Making Work Pay Credit will have a substantial impact on Americans and is targeted towards lower and middle income taxpayers. This credit is one of many tax changes resulting from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. According to a report from the Tax Inspector General for the Tax Administration dated November 27, 2009, the Making Work Pay Credit is expected to impact 116 million taxpayers.

This credit was created to provide tax relief for working people. The credit is effectively claimed by you when you file your 2009 and 2010 tax returns. Notwithstanding, most taxpayers have already received the benefit of this credit by reductions in payroll tax withholdings (resulting in larger net paychecks) that went into effect during 2009. Taxpayers received this credit almost immediately, through a reduction in the taxpayer’s 2009 payroll withholdings. This credit is also calculated and reflected in the your 2009 tax return. The credit is $400 for single taxpayers and $800 for married couples filing joint returns. It is computed as the lesser of 6.2% of your earned income or $400 for single taxpayers and $800 for married couples filing a joint return.

Making Work Pay Credit limitations Income taxpayers with higher incomes are not eligible for the credit. This credit is reduced by 2% of a single individual’s modified adjusted gross income that exceeds $75,000. For married couples filing jointly, the threshold amount is $150,000. The Making Work Pay tax Credit, is also subject to a reduction by the amount of any Economic Recovery Payment($250 per eligible recipient of Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Railroad Retirement or Veteran’s benefits) or Special Credit for Certain Government Retirees($250 per eligible federal or state retiree) that you may have received.

Who is able to benefit from the Making Work Pay Credit? The credit only benefits those taxpayers who have earned income. The only requirement is that you were employed and received taxable compensation from wages, salaries and tips. Any net earnings that you receive from self-employment is considered earned income

In addition, earned income does not include (a)Pension and annuity payments (b)Non-taxable compensation and (c)Parsonage allowance

The following individuals are not eligible for the credit:(a)Taxpayers without a valid Social Security number (b) Nonresident aliens (c) Taxpayers who could be claimed as another person’s dependent and (d)Estates and trusts.

You may have a potential problem when filing your 2009 tax returns, if you had 2 jobs during 2009 and both employers reduced your withholdings,for example, one day and one evening job with different employers. As a result, you may receive a smaller tax refund or you may have to pay taxes resulting from the reduced withholding that was deducted during the year. Since most employers applied the new withholding tables assuming the income from that employer was the only source of the taxpayer’s income. As a result, insufficient withholding may result of up to $400 per employer in excess of one for taxpayers who do not file jointly, or $800 per employer in excess of one for joint filers. Another potential problem, could occur for taxpayers who had other income in addition to their W-2 wages. The other income could put you into the total or partial phase-out category of the credit, and could result in under-withholding of up to $400 ($800 for joint filers). And finally, this is a new tax credit and may be an easy for taxpayers who prepare their own taxes to miss.

How to report the Making Work Pay Credit to the Internal Revenue Service ? If you receive less than the full amount of the anticipated credit through decreased withholding, then you may be entitled to the full credit on your return. For 2009, taxpayers are required to use Schedule M to report the tax credit. If you use Form 1040EZ instead of schedule M, there is a worksheet on page 2 of the Form 1040EZ that allows you to compute the credit amount.

Amazon had a very successful and profitable year in 2009. A good deal of the credit for that must go the Amazon’s “Kindle family” of ebook readers. Both the Kindle 2.0 and the Kindle DX have given Amazon very high sales returns and the Kindle is now Amazon’s best selling product.

At the moment, the Kindle is accounting for 60% of all ebook reader sales in the USA. The Kindle 2 recently had its global launch. Even if Amazon can’t reproduce such good figures on the international stage - though this may well be possible - the increased size of their potential customer base should be more than enough to drive even better results in 2010.

There are those who suggest that much of the Kindle’s success to date has been down to a lack of genuine competition. Whilst it may be true that there weren’t many e-book readers around to go head to head with the Kindle, it would probably be nearer the truth say that the Kindle’s success was chiefly due to the fact that it was an innovative, market changing product.

Whatever the state of the competition may have been in the past, there’s clearly no shortage of competing readers available today. The list of manufacturers who either have their own readers on offer or in development is long, and growing all the time it seems. This can only be viewed as a clear indication that rapid growth is anticipated by industry experts. Even if the market is relatively new and still in its early stages of development, the amount of support from different sources is more than enough to suggest that strong growth is on the cards.

An additional indication of the high probability of growth in this market can be seen in the high number of independent manufacturers currently providing accessories to enhance, customise and protect ebook readers. Currently, most of this range of goods is aimed at Kindle users. Accessories for alternative readers - such as the Nook from Barnes and Noble or Sony’s Daily Edition - will be easier to find in the near future as more people adopt these.

2009 was a good year for Amazon and 2010 will be a good year for ebook readers in general - they will become much more commonplace. The dominant position of Amazon will certainly come under attack and strong competition will result in a downward price trend - possibly driving prices low enough for ebook readers to enter the mainstream personal electronics market.

Market analysts predict that a price of around $ 150 is what is required for this to happen. Considering the amount of competition in the market, it’s not out of the question that this price point may be reached in 2010.
